One Chip.
All the Intelligence.

MESHLE firmware runs on the Nordic Semiconductor nRF52840 — a single chipset that handles schedules, rules, automations, sensor logic, and MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh networking. Everything executes locally on-device. No cloud, no central controller, no external dependencies. Pre-certified for FCC and CE, the module is ready for integration into your product.

Layer 1 — Connectivity

MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh Connectivity

Every MESHLE-capable device is commissioned and configured via Bluetooth. When multiple devices share the same network configuration, they form a self-healing MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh network. Each node knows every other node and relays commands across the network — even to devices beyond direct Bluetooth range of the smartphone.

Bluetooth Commissioning

Configure any MESHLE-capable device via Bluetooth. Provision devices into a shared network configuration directly from a smartphone.

Password-Protected Access

Every network is secured by password. Unauthorized devices and users cannot access or control the MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh network.

Self-Healing Network

Devices configured in the same network automatically form a self-healing mesh. Every node is aware of all other nodes and re-routes messages if a path is lost.

Multi-Hop Command Relay

Commands pass from device to device across multiple hops. Reach any node in the MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh network, even those already out of direct Bluetooth range of the smartphone.

Layer 2 — Common Features

Shared Firmware Capabilities

Every MESHLE device ships with a common set of firmware features. These capabilities are available on every node in the MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh network, regardless of device type or hardware interface.

MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh Node

Every device is a MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh node and serves as an access point for communication with smartphones.

Timers & Alarms

Each device supports multiple timers and alarms. Triggers are based on time of day, weekday, or sunrise and sunset.

Rules Engine

Each device can have a set of rules that trigger actions based on the state of other devices or sensors in the MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh network.

Over-the-Air Updates

The firmware of every device can be updated over the air via a smartphone. Saved settings and configurations are retained after each update.

Peripheral Integrations

Battery-powered devices such as TRVs, sensors, and kinetic switches can be linked to the mesh node, providing additional functionality.

Device Information & Settings

Every MESHLE device stores its own device information and configuration parameters — such as firmware version, device name, and hardware type — accessible and editable via the MESHLE app over Bluetooth.

Layer 3 — Interfaces & Algorithms

Device-Specific Interfaces & Algorithms

Depending on the device type, the MESHLE firmware provides additional capabilities through specialized interfaces. Each interface defines how the firmware drives the connected load — from single-channel dimmers to addressable pixel strips and building management adapters.

Dimmer

Single-channel 0–100% brightness control with flicker-free output.

CCT / HCL

Dual-channel tunable white with Human Centric Lighting support.

RGB

Three-channel color mixing for full-spectrum lighting effects.

RGBW

Four-channel RGB plus dedicated white for accurate color and clean whites.

RGBTW

Five-channel RGB plus tunable warm and cool white for maximum versatility.

Switch

Relay-based on/off control for circuits and non-dimmable loads.

Shutter

Motorized blind and roller shutter control with position tracking and slats angle control.

Universal PWM

Multi-channel PWM output for custom LED configurations and general loads.

Universal SPI

Addressable pixel strip driver for WS2812B and compatible protocols.

Gateway

Bridges MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh to Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Thread, and Matter.

EPD (E-Paper Display)

Low-power e-paper display interface for signage and status indicators.

Signal Converter

Translates MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh commands to external signal formats.

DALI Adapter

Integrates DALI-based luminaires and drivers into the MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh network.

0/1–10V Adapter

Controls 0–10V and 1–10V analog dimmable drivers and ballasts.

Sensor

Motion, ambient light, temperature, humidity, and air quality inputs.

Swarm Editor

Intuitive Interface
for Effortless Configuration

Configure swarm behavior visually — define zones, set thresholds, and preview light propagation in real time. The Swarm Editor runs on desktop and tablet, making on-site commissioning as simple as drag and drop.

Setup Configurations

From Standalone to Enterprise

MESHLE scales from zero-configuration standalone devices to full enterprise deployments. Each level builds on the previous — adopt only what you need.

1

Individual Device

Every MESHLE device works out of the box. Power-on defaults, internal timers, and schedules run locally without any app or network.

2

Automation

We call it "Set & Forget". Pair sensors with actuators, commission the network, and walk away. Swarm Intelligence handles the rest — devices self-organize based on presence and ambient conditions. No further interaction via app required.

3

Multi-Device with End-User Access

Add the free MESHLE app for manual control. Create groups, scenes, and schedules. Share access with other users via password-protected networks.

4

Gateway

Add a MESHLE Gateway to bridge the MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh network to Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Matter, and the cloud. Enables voice control, remote access, and third-party integration.

5

Edge (On-Premise)

For large-scale installations: MESHLE Edge provides a central dashboard, multi-network management, role-based access control, open APIs, and full data sovereignty — all on-premise.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How many devices can be in one MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh network?

Up to 250 devices per network. Multiple networks can be managed independently or linked through a MESHLE Gateway or Edge deployment for larger installations.

Do I need a gateway?

No. Every MESHLE device operates fully offline within the MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh network — schedules, automations, sensors, and scenes all run locally. A MESHLE Gateway is only needed if you want remote cloud access, voice control (Alexa, Google Home, Apple HomeKit via Matter), or integration with third-party systems.

Is MESHLE compatible with Bluetooth Mesh SIG?

MESHLE developed its own Bluetooth Mesh protocol in 2013, before the Bluetooth SIG Mesh standard was published in 2017. While MESHLE’s protocol is standard-adjacent and uses Bluetooth 5 hardware, it is a proprietary implementation optimized for reliability, local intelligence, and features like Swarm Intelligence that go beyond the SIG specification.

Is MESHLE compatible with Casambi?

No. MESHLE and Casambi use different proprietary protocols and are not interoperable. MESHLE is based on Bluetooth Mesh technology; Casambi uses its own proprietary protocol. Devices from one system cannot join the other’s network.

What are the benefits of MESHLE compared to other Bluetooth lighting platforms?

MESHLE differentiates through: open REST and MQTT APIs for BMS integration, Matter support via Gateway, fully offline-first operation with no cloud dependency, a free app with no subscription fees, on-premise Edge deployment for data sovereignty, and German engineering with cloud infrastructure hosted in Germany (GDPR compliant). The firmware also includes unique features like Swarm Intelligence and a timeline-based Scene & Animation Editor.

Can MESHLE replace an existing Bluetooth lighting control system?

Yes. MESHLE is a full firmware platform that covers lighting control, sensors, shading, and building automation within a single MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh ecosystem. Migration typically involves replacing the control modules — the luminaires and wiring stay the same. MESHLE’s pre-certified modules and OEM program make the transition straightforward for manufacturers and integrators.
